For close to two decades, Sima has been the founding stone and backbone of Apparel Group. She has single-handedly shattered any stereotype, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with husband Nilesh and has been on a mission to transform the local retail fashion industry, while also touching and impacting lives of the less fortunate in the society.
Sima graduated from Kings College London with a BSC in Business Management before pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration from University of Bradford. She spent her early days working at her father’s mall in Dubai, which gave her the sales experience and confidence to start her own retail business with husband Nilesh Ved.
In her leadership role at the Apparel Group, Sima continues to set the pace for women in business. By leading Dubai’s most recognized fashion powerhouse and lifestyle retail conglomerate, Sima also serves as a perfect example to other budding female entrepreneurs.
Sima goes beyond just being a successful entrepreneur; she is a dedicated philanthropist whose contribution continues to impact and change lives – leaving a mark in the society. An ardent believer in giving back, Sima takes pride in partnering with others to transform communities. Over the years, she has actively volunteered to work with the Children’s Hope Foundation among other charity initiatives to help deserving children from underprivileged backgrounds. In addition, Sima‘s partnership with the Al Jalila Foundation through the Apparel Group, reflects her commitment to transforming lives through medical education and research.
She is also passionate and actively involved in creating awareness and advocating for women’s empowerment. Sima’s work and family are the two things closest to her. Any time away from work is spent with family – with her husband Nilesh, daughters Selina & Sarisha and son Nayaan.
Sima’s outstanding involvement and dedication in making a significant contribution to changing lives at an international level has not gone unnoticed.
In 2016, Sima was presented with The Global Gift Philantropreneur Award by Eva Longoria for exemplifying the foundation’s philanthropic mission. This recognition serves as a big motivation for her to soldier on and contribute towards making the world a better place, one community at a time.
As other budding entrepreneurs constantly look up to Sima for inspiration, she too has a few that she tries to emulate.
Looking at role models like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Malala Yousafzai, Sima endeavors to spend her time focusing on becoming a relevant example of inspirational female power.
Eva Longoria’s speech at The Global Gift Philantropreneur Awards recapitulates the spirit of Sima’s strength of character when she said; “When you think about female empowerment; you have a vague figure of someone in your head, but then you meet Sima and you go like, oh wait a minute; that’s female empowerment, that’s what it looks like! With her sense of energy, passion and persistence, we couldn’t have picked a better person than Sima to be the recipient of The Global Gift Philantropreneur Award this year”.
Through such inspiration, Sima hopes to motivate other young, upcoming female entrepreneurs and inspiring them to succeed.
